2021The session coordinated by the IUCN WCPA Urban Conservation Strategies Specialist Group and the CED PPN (European Documentation Centre on Nature Park Planning), DIST-Politecnico di Torino intended to explore the urban conservation strategies issues thanks to the contributions of academics, representatives of institutions, and urban parks managers and cities from a wide perspective, involving both European and Southern Countries, in order to address in the most effective way the “Park-City alliance” topic.

International Workshop “Biodiversity, Landscape and Life Quality. Protected Areas for Urban Sustainability and Resilience”
2018International Workshop “Biodiversity, Landscape and Life Quality. Protected Areas for Urban Sustainability and Resilience”, organizzato dal CED PPN-DIST and the NEReGRO (New Regional Development in Protected Areas research group), Politecnico di Torino - DIST, Sala Vigliano, Castello del Valentino.
The workshop was also included among the events of the PoliTO Sustainability Week 2018,.
Speakers from Europe and national met to discuss the topic, bringing reflections and experiences useful to define a current theme as critical. The international workshop investigates the relationship between Protected Areas (PAs) and human settlements, with specific reference to urban areas.
Due to the progressive spreading of land-take processes and to the intense growth of PAs, today in Europe PA policies are increasingly confronted by urbanization processes. An alliance between PAs and “Cities”, as challenging as it may be, is thus needed, both in favour of PAs and urban contexts. This objective entails some underlying and more general issues such as the relationship between PA Plans and urban and regional Plans, the need for a landscape approach in PA planning, the need for co-management approaches, the PA effectiveness. The initiave is specifically relatated to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in particolar: SDG11 (Sustainable cities and communities), SDG15 (Life on land), SDG3 (Good health and well-being).

In occasione della 7° Edizione Workshop internazionale IITED si è svolta a Torino una sessione sul tema “Parks and Landscape Planning and Management” a cura di Angioletta Voghera, Luigi La Riccia, Gabriella Negrini.
Al termine dell'incontro è stato sottoscritto un Memorandum of Understanding tra IITED (International Institute on Territorial and Environmental Dynamics), ICHHTO (Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicraft and Tourism Organization) e DIST (The Interuniversity Department of Regional And Urban Studies and Planning, Politecnico di Torino, Italy)

Il 5 luglio si è svolto il Seminario di studio sul tema dell’efficacia di gestione nelle aree protette urbane nel quadro dell’esperienza internazionale IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas (condotta da Federparchi e dal Comitato Italiano IUCN a partire dal 2014), nell’ambito del Convegno internazionale di apertura del II Festival delle Città Metropolitane 2017 - Progetto Paese “Territori competitivi e progetti di reti” INU, Napoli, 5-8 Luglio 2017, Palazzo Gravina – DiARC Università di Napoli Federico II.
